Ethan's Room

The furniture for Ethan's room came in a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd post a picture. Being that Matt is unable to lift anything, and I am out of commission for heavy lifting, Matt's parents were kind enough to go get our furniture from the store in Riverside, unload it from the truck, and carry it into the bedroom. They also put together the crib for us. I couldn't resist putting the bedding on so that I could see how it all looks :) I am very pleased with it. Thanks Mom W. for the crib and bedding!

I love the hutch because of the storage it has.... dresser space, a space for the changing pad, and bookshelves! I stuck some stuff up there, but that is not how I'm going to keep it. I want to find baskets that will fit on the shelves for the books, and I probably won't keep those frames up there.
Now we just need to paint all the trim in the bedroom, and patch and paint a couple of walls where I had shelves hanging. I also have an oak toy chest that I am …

Productive Mornings

Matt went back to work on Monday. We get up at 5:15, and I give him his breakfast and coffee and stuff, and then I drive him down to Redlands at 5:55. I meet up with my brother, who takes him the rest of the way. My brother works in Chino Hills, past Rancho where Matt works, so he drops him off. I get back home at 6:30 and it's been nice and cool out. On Monday I got home and did all the yard work, gave the dog a bath, had some breakfast, and got ready.... all by 9:00 am! Then I went grocery shopping and did dinner stuff later on. Matt was very pleased with the beer battered fish tacos I made (a very special treat because I never fry anything). Tuesday I was pooped and crawled back into the bed until 8:00. Today after I got home I washed and vacuumed both cars, then a little later took one of them to get serviced. Although I don't enjoy waking up so early, I guess I've been more motivated to get some stuff done since it's so much cooler out at that time of the …

Sweet Baby Christian

The first picture is me, taken today, 29 weeks pregnant. I took this before we headed to the hospital. Danny and Jolene had a bit of a surprise yesterday (August 23rd) when Christian decided to make his arrival 3 1/2 weeks early. Jolene was at work and started having contractions. She decided to go home and labor for a while there before heading to the hospital. Things progressed very quickly and by the time she got to the hospital she was already 7 cm dilated. They quickly discovered that Christian was breech (he had not been just a few days previous), and so they had to do an emergency C-section. All went well and little Christian was born just before 7:00 p.m. He was 6 lbs. 2 oz, and 19.5 inches long. He has some dark hair and looks just perfect. He is a really cute baby. We got to go see them today and Jolene is doing well....tired, and in pain from the C-section, but on her way to recovery. Now they just have to close escrow on their house (hopefully on Sept. 10th) and…

I had to post a video of Cookie jumping in the pool after her toy.... it's so funny. She'll do it the entire time we swim. Our dog LOVES the water, we can't keep her out of it.

Update on Matt

It has now been 12 days since Matt's surgery. We went back to Van Nuys last Tuesday and saw the Dr., and much to his relief Matt got his big clunky cast removed. They also removed his stitches. They made him a splint, which he can remove, but still wears a majority of the time. He still has to stay completely off of his right foot for five more weeks, so he continues to hobble around on his crutches. He has gotten a lot faster with them and at least the splint is much lighter than the cast. He spends the majority of the day in the chair because he needs to keep his leg elevated as much as possible. He has his laptop, so that helps. Cookie thinks it's great.... she is a lap dog and loves to cuddle. She is loving all of the available lap space right now. Matt is going to stay at home another week, and then he'll try going back to work....which will be interesting. He is thinking maybe he'll bring a backpack to work so that he can at least carry some stuff arou…

My first attempt at digital scrapbooking

This is my first attempt at digital scrapbooking. I do scrapbook normally, I've just never tried to do it digitally. I made it for my mom. I'm pretty proud of myself because I learned how to do layers in Adobe Photoshop :) The best part is I got all the elements for free, so it didn't cost a thing. My mom is happy because she can print them out on nice paper and make a scrapbook of her own now. I think I'll make the rest of her scrapbook this way.... it was fun, and a more geeky way to use my creativity :)

28 Weeks

Here I am at 28 weeks. I'm still feeling good :) I've started going to the Dr. every other week now, so that is kind of nice. According to all the books, Ethan should be around 2 1/2 pounds and about 14 inches long (give or take a few). Starting last week he can open and close his eyes, and I can feel him get the hiccups now. We pray he continues to grow healthy and strong inside of me :)

Jolene's Baby Shower

I had a baby shower for Jolene at my house yesterday. She is 35 weeks in this picture, and I am 27 weeks. A few of our dear old friends came, along with my mom and Jolene's sister in law. At the end Kelly shared a special surprise with us... she's having twins! She is 11 1/2 weeks pregnant. I didn't believe her at first, it took a bit to sink in. Everyone is having babies! First it was all the wedding showers, now it's time for baby showers :)

Baby Furniture

I finally decided upon, and ordered the baby furniture :) I ordered it from a store in Riverside, and hopefully it will be in in about 3-4 weeks. The crib looks exactly like what I ordered, I got it in white.

The only difference between this and what I ordered is the bottom, it doesn't quite look like that, and I ordered white. The main dresser and hutch are the same. You can use the top of the dresser as a changing table. I wanted this so that I could utilize the most space possible. Plus, I have more room to store books at the top.... I have TONS of books :) Ethan will be set!

Matt's Surgery

We are home from surgery! We left at 10:00 this morning and got to Van Nuys a little early... around 11:45. They told us to be there at 12:30, and I assumed the surgery would begin shortly after. However upon arrival we found out the surgery wasn't actually scheduled to begin until 2:00. I didn't realize they took that much time to prep and prepare the patient. Matt went in at 12:15 and the got him all ready. I went to the waiting room and began my wait. As many of you know, I have a bit of a hard time sitting still, so waiting all day in a waiting room was not easy for me. I had brought a couple of books and some snacks, so at least I had something to do. I read, walked around, texted, read some more, ate, walked around, and then finally at 4:00 they called me. Matt was out of surgery and the Dr. spoke with me and told me that all had gone well, however they wouldn't let me see him in recovery. Finally, at 5:15 they called me back and told me I could take him t…

Here's What We've Been Up To....

I thought I'd share some pictures of our finished projects. We (and especially Matt), have been working VERY hard the past few months to get these things completed. Making the mudroom into an office proved to be quite a bit of work. I didn't think about taking before shots, so mostly I just have after shots. I do have a couple of old pictures of what the mudroom looked like when we first moved into the house, so it shows how different it is now. The first thing Matt did was install a new main electrical panel in the garage. This allowed him to take out the one in the mudroom, and have an electrical panel that would support an air conditioner (which we got installed in May...yippeee!). Next, he took out the water heater, which took up half of the pantry space. We got rid of it, and Matt installed a tankless water heater outside. This was his first foray into plumbing, and he was quit nervous before he began. He did a marvelous job and everything worked out. Now instead of a …
