How did I do?

Remember my post about Freeganism? I had said that I wouldn't buy anything that I didn't need for the month of March. Here we are on the last day of March, so I thought let you know how I did. I'd say I did only so-so. I started out really well, and about half way through, I kind of lost steam and forgot all about it. It was not at the front of my mind, and so a couple of times when I went out I bought things I didn't need. My worst offense was when I went to Big Lots looking for a birthday gift, and wound up getting some scrapbook paper that was a really good deal.... something I really did not need (I already have a lot of paper). Another time I went to Kohl's and got a few shirts, however I used a gift card... so I didn't really count that. I know there were a few other times that I purchased things I did not need. Anyhow, let's just say I got a C on my own little challenge... sad I know. At least I was mostly being mindful about what I bought. I usually try to really think about what I bring into my home, simply for the fact that I hate clutter and don't like to accumulate things I don't need or love. Anyhow, hopefully those of you that joined me did a little better than me.

oohh maaaannn, I got a C- for sure. I did great in the beginning saving about $80 then I saved about $100 but the last week was bad. We ate out sooooo much during sprink break. I found out that is where I waste the most money. I enjoy eating out. Bummer huh? It did make me mindful though of what I am doing. :)

I'll give myself a B. I could have done better but I didn't do so bad. I bought one shirt that was 75% off and I bought the girls little stuff. I saved lots of money (but also spent at the same time) on a camera.

Im hoping to finally get a haircut soon (its been since Oct!) Not that I was waiting for April to do that though :)

I did okay. I broke down at the end and bought groceries (I was trying to only use my HUGE stockpile).

I can't abstain from shopping that way with a new baby soon to arrive so I focused on food and not throwing away or pushing as much back. I give myself a C. I did clean out the old from the cabinets and our outside fridge. So now I have a better idea of what I actually need and use so as not to be tossing stuff out at the end. I also watched the produce which not only saved money but I threw hardley any away. I also saved my bananas in the freezer when they got brown for banana bread. Your challenge made me think about purchasing less and trying to re-use and re-purpose items I have. I also cleaned out my closet and drawers and donated 2 bags to charity along with another bag of my son's old clothing.

I would give myself a C. I wasn't so great at saying no to Starbucks when that's where everyone always wants to meet. I did do really well at not buying anything extra on regular shopping trips for necessities (like at Target when I went for diapers.)
