Today we joined the mom's group at church in Oak Glen for a picnic. We went to our favorite spot... Los Rios Ranchos. It was gorgeous up there and SO much less crowded than on the weekend. We had a nice time hanging out in the shade eating lunch.

After we had been there about an hour we were hanging out on a bench and Ethan was cruising along it. He cruised over to my knee and hung on, then tried to go back to the bench without holding onto anything. He lost his balance and fell, hitting his face on the bench on the way down.

When I picked him up I could see he had a pretty nasty bump and a big knot under his eye that immediately swelled up and turned purple. It was bleeding, but not bad. Ethan was in pain and it took him a while to calm down, but then he was ready to play again. He would forget it was there and rub his eye, and it would hurt, so he would burst into tears again. We left pretty soon after he got hurt.

My poor little guy. Hopefully it heels quickly and doesn't turn into a nasty black eye. I suppose having a boy it is the first of many injuries. At least it wasn't any worse.

Poor thing! I'm looking forward to the day when they are old enough to talk to about what has happened. You feel so sad that they just don't understand why they are in pain!

You need to start wrapping Ethan in bubble wrap before you let him go out.
