Chocolate oatmeal bars

I found this recipeon this blog and made it this week. It was divine! I had to share it since we all loved these so much. I think they are healthy because they have oatmeal ;)

Chocolate Oatmeal BarsMix:
1 C Brown Sugar
1 C Granulated Sugar
1 C Butter
2 eggs

Then add:
2 C Flour
3 C Oatmeal
1 tsp Baking Soda

Press 1/2- 3/4 of the mixture into the bottom of a 9" x 13" pan.

Over low heat, in a small saucepan melt:
6 oz chocolate chips
1/2 C Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Pour the chocolate mixture into the 9" x 13" pan over the oatmeal mixture. Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the top. Bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool (at least an hour) before cutting. To get these to turn out just right, I line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper so they are easier to slide out (I cut them once they are out of the pan and on a cutting board.) Also, if you have them time, I would let them sit overnight. It seems like just an hour or two still leav…

The Weekend

We had a nice weekend. Friday I had both the kiddos by myself. We made it to Tmoms and had a nice morning. Ethan had a rough time in the nursery but hopefully he'll get used to it since we'll be going all year. Friday night a friend brought us dinner... Gourmet Pizza... yum. After putting Ethan to bed Matt went and played poker with his friends.

Here we are hanging out in the backyard Friday afternoon

Saturday I had my second acupuncture treatment in the morning. It was nice. I think one thing I've noticed with just two treatments is my anxiety has decreased. I also actually had a great night last night and got two three hour chunks of sleep. Of course I was in the chair with Alayna on me, but hey... I don't care where I am if I can get some sleep! That is the most sleep I've had in weeks.

After Ethan's nap we went over to Matt's parents house and went swimming since it was over 100 degrees. Later that evening we all went to Gourmet Pizza and had s…

Oak Glen

On Sunday after Ethan's nap we went up to Oak Glen for a little while. It was a tad cooler up there. We enjoyed some caramel apples and apple cider. Ethan had fun looking at the goats and chickens at Los Rios then ran around in the grass. Alayna was a trooper and slept in the sling.

2 weeks

Our little sweetie pie is two weeks old now. She seems to be getting her nights and days figured out (except for last night when she thought it would be great to party from 3:30-5 am). You know I'll be posting TONS of pictures, and I'm sure they will seem quite repetitive.... but they grow so quickly.... I have to capture everything :)

Ahhhh.... if only I could sleep this peacefully :) This was during Ethan's nap time yesterday. I enjoyed snuggling with Alayna and watching my Tivoed Grey's Anatomy.
I love how she purses her lips in her sleep...

The good and the bad

The good:
Alayna slept by herself in her Pack and Play last night from 9:45- 1:00.This morning at her doctor appointment she weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 oz, then pooped and weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz, then ate and weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. :) The doctor said she'll need to go on a diet if she keeps this up, lol. So she is doing just great, which is good to know.My mom is taking a week off work and will be here all next week. It will be fun to have the company and help, and we'll do a few fun things :) After that it will be back to reality for me (or rather my new reality with two kids).
I ordered this book and started reading it yesterday... it's written by a hypnotist. I'm hopeful that it will help me with my screwed up inability to fall asleep, along with the acupuncture. It is my daily prayer that I can just become "normal" again and fall asleep when I go to bed! I just want this nightmare to end.
Tomorrow is my first meeting of Tmoms, I'm excited to have that agai…

Welcome baby Jonathan Augustine!

The Flores family got to meet their newest member a tad earlier than expected. Jonathan Augustine Flores was born yesterday, September 22nd at noon. Despite being only 35 weeks old he weighed in at a healthy 6 lbs. 2 oz, and was 18 inches long. He is very healthy and didn't have to spend any time in the NICU. On top of that Jolene was able to have a successful VBAC and didn't have to have any surgery this time.

It amazes me that Jonathan, who wasn't due until October 24th, was born only a little smaller than Alayna! Praise God for a healthy baby for the Flores family. I sure didn't think Jolene and I would have our babies only a week and a half apart! We were joking that Alayna and Jonathan are going to have a forced betrothal. They told us we'd better pick out a girl name that fits with Flores ;) We were excited that we got to meet Jonathan yesterday. He is such a cute little peanut! Congratulations Flores family!

Matching Jammies

The other night I decided to give Alayna a quick bath with Ethan. He thought it was funny to have his baby sister in the tub with him.

Afterwards we put them in their matching jammies from Faith and had to snap a picture. Ethan gave his sister lots of kisses (forehead bumps).

First Bath

Our little peanut had her first bath when she was a week old. After the initial shock she didn't seem to mind :)

All clean!

Afterwards we were hanging out in Ethan's room and him and Matt were goofing around.
